Spring/Summer 2021: Masks + other updates

Dear clients,

What a whirlwind it’s been — even though many of us have been fully vaccinated for months, we are only just now understanding what that means for returning to “normalcy”.

The NC Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy recently issued a clarification in the wake of Governor Cooper’s Executive Order 215 that massage + bodywork therapy is considered healthcare and as such, masks are still required in these settings. My mask policy is thus updated as follows:

  • Despite being fully vaccinated, I will still be wearing a face mask for the entirety of the session as per the requirements of the Board.
  • I will require clients to arrive wearing a face mask that completely covers their mouth and nose, despite vaccination status. Fully vaccinated clients will have the option to remove their masks when they are face-down on the massage table, but these clients will be asked to put their mask back on when they turn face-up and at any other time during the session.
  • Unvaccinated clients must wear a mask from the time they enter to the time they leave the building and for the entirety of their time on the table, without exception.

I have updated my protocols of safe practice and have removed some other restrictions (like session lengths and client capacity), but I am still requiring all clients to fill out the COVID-19 Intake Form before each session.
