Spring/Summer 2021: Masks + other updates

Dear clients,

What a whirlwind it’s been — even though many of us have been fully vaccinated for months, we are only just now understanding what that means for returning to “normalcy”.

The NC Board of Massage & Bodywork Therapy recently issued a clarification in the wake of Governor Cooper’s Executive Order 215 that massage + bodywork therapy is considered healthcare and as such, masks are still required in these settings. My mask policy is thus updated as follows:

  • Despite being fully vaccinated, I will still be wearing a face mask for the entirety of the session as per the requirements of the Board.
  • I will require clients to arrive wearing a face mask that completely covers their mouth and nose, despite vaccination status. Fully vaccinated clients will have the option to remove their masks when they are face-down on the massage table, but these clients will be asked to put their mask back on when they turn face-up and at any other time during the session.
  • Unvaccinated clients must wear a mask from the time they enter to the time they leave the building and for the entirety of their time on the table, without exception.

I have updated my protocols of safe practice and have removed some other restrictions (like session lengths and client capacity), but I am still requiring all clients to fill out the COVID-19 Intake Form before each session.

Unfortunately, I am still not able to accept first-time clients at this time, unless you have a gift certificate to redeem. First-time clients are still welcome to submit an appointment request as outlined below — there is an option to indicate that you’d like to be put on the waiting list.

If you’d like to schedule your appointment, here’s how to proceed:

STEP 1: CLICK HERE TO READ THE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
STEP 2: CLICK HERE TO REQUEST AN APPOINTMENT

Wishing you all a happy, healthy summer!

Winter 2020: Open with restrictions

Dear clients,

It’s been about 3 months since I reopened my practice at reduced capacity. It feels so good to be back doing the work I love, and I’m thrilled to report that my protocols of safe practice have gone smoothly and are even beginning to feel … “normal!” 🙃

That said, North Carolina is heading in the wrong direction as we move through the holiday season, so I am remaining ever-vigilant. Filling out the  required COVID-19 Intake Form before each session is more important than ever, so I urge you all to read it through carefully and answer as truthfully as you can.

Wishing you a safe and healthy holiday season!

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!

August 2020: Still closed, still missing you

May 28, 2020

Dear clients,

After gathering more information over the past days, I am sorry to say that I have decided to postpone announcing a re-opening date.

Even with my new protocols in place, there is no getting around the fact that massage and bodywork requires prolonged skin-to-skin contact in an enclosed space. As we begin to navigate life in the grey area — with a focus still on social distancing, reduced capacities, and boosting our local economies as safely as possible — it seems important for me to pause and get a clearer sense of the trends of this phase in our community before taking the next step. My revised plan is to re-evaluate every two weeks in Phase 2 before making this announcement and scheduling appointments. I will keep you updated.

In the meantime, please read my new protocols so you have time to adjust and make an informed choice about resuming sessions. Some of these changes will feel quite different and will take some getting used to, but I believe we can do it! Most importantly, if you have a concern or question about anything here, please contact me. “We’re in this together” — this phrase is a little overused these days, but it’s so true.

Please know that my electronic door is open. Many of us rely on massage to keep our bodies going, and some of us are in a lot of pain right now. I am still here and I can still help. I am available for phone or video sessions to help problem-solve, teach self-massage or stretching techniques, or even to help you find resources. I can also talk things through via email. Just say the word.
